The Japan PE/FE Examiners Council (JPEC) is a non-profit organization certified by the Cabinet Office of the Japanese Government to carry out the examinations of the U.S. National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) in Japan.

JPEC is approved by NCEES to provide the applicants for the international professional licensure for engineers in Japan with the same FE and PE examinations as in the United States. For the qualification details, see the Japanese page.


JPEC carries out the FE and PE examinations in Japan for the international professional licensure for engineers who possess professional ethics to protect the public health, safety and welfare.


JPEC administers FE and PE examinations in Japan for the university students and company employees who wish to become professional engineers at the international level.


October 1994
The first FE examination was held in Tokyo, Japan, being administered by the Oregon State Board of Examiners for Engineering and Land Surveying (OSBEELS) and the Japan Technology Transfer Association (JTTAS).
April 1996
The first PE examination was held at the U.S. Naval Base in Yokosuka, Japan, being administered by OSBEELS.
October 2001
JPEC administered the FE examination by taking over the role from JTTAS.
October 2002
OSBEELS discontinued the administration of PE examination for the applicants in Japan.
October 2005
OSBEELS discontinued the administration of PE examination in Japan.
October 2006
The first FE examination was held in Tokyo, Japan, being administered by the U.S. National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) and the Japan PE/FE Examiners Council (JPEC).
October 2007
The first PE examination was held in Tokyo, Japan being administered by NECEES and JPEC.
